What is a traditional gas central heating &
hot water system?
A traditional gas central heating system is not that dissimilar to you or I, comprising
of a heart (the boiler) working to provide heat which is transferred via our veins
(the pipework) to our limbs (the radiators), in some cases keeping a store of hot
water like we would keep in a thermal flask (the cylinder) for washing and bathing
when desired.

What is a solar heating & hot water system?
The principle behind solar heating and hot water systems is simple. Solar panels
absorb heat from the sun. A liquid medium then carries this heat to the water cylinder,
where a heat exchanger transfers the heat to the hot water supply or the central
heating circuit. The cool water then returns to the solar panels to repeat the cycle.
The boiler which is connected to the same cylinder provides back up heat if and
when required. |
